A 7 module, self-paced online course, with me (Chloe Thomson, Sprout School Founder & horticulturist) as your teacher.
The course includes pre-recorded video modules that you can watch as your own pace PLUS during the course you'll be part of a private Facebook group for 6 months where you can ask questions, share ideas and interact directly with me and other participants.

Hey, I'm Chloe Thomson
A Melbourne based horticulturist who's passionate about making everyone better and more confident gardeners!
And so during covid lockdowns when my DMs blew up with questions about what to plant where and how to start a garden I decided I would create the first of it's kind - an online course covering ALL the basics of gardening you probably never learnt!

MODULE 1 ~ How & where to start - includes understanding your gardens light & orientation.
MODULE 2 ~ Soil Type - get to know your soil, how to improve it and how to find the best plants for it.
MODULE 3 ~ Choosing the right plants - building on what we've learnt in Module 1, we will learn to decode plant labels, look at plant/garden trends and how to be inspired to find the right plants for your garden.
MODULE 4 ~ Garden maintenance tips & tricks
- how to make your garden 'low maintenance', learn composting, fertilising 101, irrigation + mulching guidelines and essential tools.
MODULE 5 ~ Edible gardening - where to grow your edible garden, which plants are right for your space/climate/garden, fruit tree growing 101, veggie + herb gardening 101.
MODULE 6 ~ Garden trouble shooting - pests, diseases, deficiencies, weed control, learn how to take control (naturally) of these annoying things that appear in your garden.
MODULE 7 ~ Indoor Plants - get your indoor space green with my top tips on choosing the right indoor plant, caring for indoors and making them thrive!

How do we get the course content?
The 7 modules are pre-recorded and you can watch each module as series of shorter lessons.Each module is roughly 1 hour of content - but it will be broken into smaller bite sized videos. You also have lifetime access to the videos for each module - so you can watch or re-watch at any time. The LIVE Q&A sessions are held once a month on a weeknight at 8pm Melbourne time. You will STILL get amazing value if you can't join the live sessions as you can use the Facebook Group to ask me anything whenever you need.
How much time do I need to do this course?
There are 8 modules - each module includes approx. 1 hour of educational videos that are broken down into shorter (5-20min) lessons for you to watch at your own pace.
You have LIFE TIME access to these videos and can watch them and re-watch them as you'd like too. This access also means that if anything is updated - you'll see that too!
If you'd like to join the weekly LIVE Q&A session (typically on a Mon or Tues night around 8pm Melbourne time) then you can. No stress if you can't make it live though, you can always watch the replay as it will be posted to the Facebook Group. And you can ask me a question ANYTIME during Sprout School via the Facebook Group.
Will you draw up my garden plans in the course?
Nope - BUT I will help you sketch your garden and possible designs for it.Want something more pretty & professional though? Well that's the job for a landscape designer and an option you might choose to go down after Sprout School.
BUT in Sprout School - I will teach you how to sketch out your ideas and plans and understand WHAT MIGHT work in your garden. This knowledge is SUPER valuable!
What if my garden is a blank canvas?
Perfect! Join Sprout School and I'll teach you how to turn that blank canvas into a garden that a) works in your available space and b) makes you happy!
But I always kill plants!
Hey there plant killer! This course is for you - I'll help you better understand your garden spaces, soil and microclimates so YOU CAN find the right plants that will work. And we've got a whole module on pests, diseases & other annoying hurdles. Trust me - you will be a green thumb in no time!!
